Awesome Day

Here are just a few shots from our Halloween Party at Antioch Park last weekend. We had blast! The weather was beautiful! We couldn't have asked for a better day. We ate, played games, painted pumpkins, decorated cookies, went for walks, played on the playground, it was amazing. We have decided this is something we want to do every year. If you missed it this year, you won't want to miss next year. It is bound to be bigger and better.

2010- Third Quarter Recap

So this recap is a little late. This is a super busy time of year which means I have lots to post about but very little time to do it.

Anyway, here goes!

Caiden- 3 years 10 months

All boy- messy, always making noises and loves to talk about gross things

Calls overpasses "Caves"

Told me "that deer broke my heart" the other day when it ran out in front of my car and I almost hit it. That is what I say when I hear something that makes me sad.

Listens to everything that comes out of our mouths, even when we don't realize it.

Knows almost all of his letters- by site and sound. There are a few that trip him up but we are working on them.

Has the speech of a first grader.

Just switched to a big kid booster seat- know he sounds AND looks like a big boy.

Lincoln- 7 months

Has 7 teeth....yes, 7.

Is scooting all over the place and trying really hard to crawl.

Is going to be a skunk for Halloween.

Has started waking up in the middle of the night to play- seriously! He played for an hour before I went in to break up the party in his crib at 3:30 AM.

Is so long he is wearing 12 month clothes.

Has not been sick yet.....yes, I just called the Devil. I'm sure that is what my next post will be about.

Likes his veggies better than fruit at this point.

Wants to feed himself and swats at the spoon while you feed him. It can be a very messy process some days.

10 Things I Am Working On

1. Spending quality time with my kids (hence the disappearance from the Internet lately). I read the other day that in today's society people are raising their kids in their spare time. That hit home because I realized that is us! I have made it a point to come home, eat dinner at the table, play outside or inside together and NOT TURN THE TV ON! That is a big one.....

2. Updating my house. We have been here over five years now and will be here at least another three. I have already redone my bathroom and Master Bedroom and they look awesome! Next is the Living Room. No real big changes but enough to make it feel like new.

3. Getting my school's artsonia page up and running. I am the first teacher in the entire district to attempt this crazy endeavor. So far so good. I presented at my Mentor Meeting and have been invited to present at the Elementary Art Meeting in a few weeks. Hopefully I can get all 9 other elementary schools up and running this year. It takes A LOT OF WORK!

4. Taking more pictures. I got out of the habit since my computer has been super slow and I need to get back at it.

5. Feeding myself and my son healthier meals. I have been drinking slim fast shakes the last month of so so I have relied on lunchables and frozen veggies for his dinner. I am a sucker for cute little snack foods too so I need to buy him less of those so he will eat REAL food more.

6. Saving money. This goes back to the whole moving thing. You gotta have money before you can buy a house!

7. Blogging more. Even if it is a short blog, I need to make time to post it. I usually don't want to mess with the computer because when I sit down to use it I end up spending the first 15 minutes waiting for it to load up.

8. Getting to work earlier. This year is completely different at my school. There are changes district wide that are affecting EVERYONE. My schedule is less than desirable and I have been asked to do things outside my certification. They are things that I CAN do but was not trained to do so it is going to take awhile to get good at them.

9. Growing my hair out. This one really is pretty easy and by far the easiest on my list but definitely mentionable. I haven't had my hair long in YEARS so it is something to get used to. I like it though....and so does Lincoln since he pulls it every chance he gets.

10. Going to church and volunteering. It is hard with two kids to find the time but really, it is possible. I just need to make it a priority. We have gone the last two weeks but I haven't volunteered since July to help with anything.

I have RING WORM!

Ugg!

Last year it was pink eye, this year, ring worm. All the icky gross things I should have gotten as a child but luckily didn't, I am now getting as an adult. Let's not forget that my beautiful son gave me lice two years ago too. All the bullets that I thought I dodged ended up finding me anyway.

I most likely got it from a kid at school but it is possible I got it from Boot Camp. (Yes, I am still going. 25 weeks in and I am finally starting to feel some changes!). It is itchy, bumpy and oh, did I mention- SUPER contagious?! I have been applying a cream to it for the last day or so and covering it with a bandage. Who knows how long it will take to go away. Jay said he got it a lot as a wrestler and it took about a week to go away. Hopefully this will take just a few more days to start disappearing.

Computer Issues

I know I have been quiet lately and here is why. Our computer isn't working properly. We had a guy come look at it 2 months ago and add memory to it but really that seemed to make it worse. Just to give you an example, so far, it has taken me 22 minutes to get the Internet to open, find this page in my favorites and type this many words. I have restarted it 3 times now. I am super frustrated and want a new computer BAD! But of course that probably isn't in the budget so I don't see that happening. We have talked about getting a new one for Christmas but we will see...

For now, please excuse my absence like all the other times before. I have so much to blog about but I don't have the time or the patience to wait on this machine. I have been using Jay's work computer but it doesn't have any of my pictures on it so that doesn't help with the blog.
