The Best Pot of Chili Yet!

Tonight I made one of the best pots of chili that I have ever made. My spicy husband has turned me on to trying new things so I thought I would put a new spin on an old favorite. Here is my recipe with my latest ingredient as well as my special ingredient.

1 lb ground turkey meat
2 cans of red kidney beans
1 can of black beans
1 can of diced tomatoes and green chilis
chili powder
onion powder
garlic powder
tomato sauce
1/2 can of light beer
1 can of my Grandma Reba's home-grown tomatoes

YUM!

1,2,3 to the Zoo

We took our first trip to the zoo this year. Caiden got MUCH more out of it this year than he did last year. Everything was either a "kitty" or a "doggy". We also learned that Caiden is not interested in touching sheep. It must be the texture of the wool that scared him- atleast that is my theory. It was a beautiful day with great weather. We met Jay's parents out there for lunch then cruised around the rest of the day. I can't wait for next year when we get our Polar Bears! Maybe the following year it will be a mysterious black fog.... (LOST reference here in case some of you don't get that!).

It's Potty Time!

This week not only did Caiden start walking but he also expressed an interest in going potty like a big kid. When you ask him if he has to go potty he will walk as fast as he can down the hall and knock on the bathroom door. We haven't officially gone potty in the bathroom but the fact that he is making the connection this early is a very good thing. This is every mother's dream! Okay, well not completely but it is a good start. Wish us luck and lots of patience! I will keep you posted on the progress.

School, school and more school

Wow, I have four more weeks left of classes then a very short finals week and I am DONE for the summer. It feels really good to be getting so close to the end. When I finish this semester I will have one more in the fall before I start my student teaching in the Spring of 2009. This means I will (hopefully) get a teaching position for the 2009-1010 school year. Yikes! That doesn't sound too far away.
